Suspend-dome of Tianjin Baodi Gym
The central part of Baodi Gym roof is a suspend-dome with long axis of 103.4 m, short axis of 79.4 m, and rise of 8 m. Thus the ratio of rise to span is 7.77% along the long axis of the roof and 10.1% along the short axis of the roof. The upper part of the suspend-dome is a single-layer latticed shell of Kiewitt (K6)-Lamella, and the bottom is the Levy cable-strut system composed of 5 hoop cables. The upper suspend-dome is supported on the top of 40 reinforced concrete frame columns by spring steel support.
I mainly involved in the structure design of the suspend-dome. The finite element model is built and general static, dynamic and stablity analysis are carried out. Pre-stress optimization is also carried out by ANSYS.
