Suspend-dome of Bicycle Gym for East Asian Games 

Suspend-dome of the Bicycle Gym for East Asian Game is an ellipsoidal suspend-dome, which is a special shape in suspend-dome. The span of long axis is 126m and the short aixs is 100m. The rise is 18m.

 

 

In order to avoid friction loss of loop cable, cable-member systems with radial spherical plain bearing is induced in suspend-dome which builds prestress on loop cable by the rotation of strut. 

 

 

In order to test the new joint systems talked above, numerical and experimental analysis are carried out. The simulation result shows good accuracy.

 

 

Forward analysis of form-finding and back analysis of form-finding are carried out using ANSYS and the lofting state of the structure before tension is obtained and it is proved that back analysis is more suitable for finding lofting state of cable-member systems with radial spherical plain bearing. A mixed tension method is used according to above-mentioned analytical result, which prestresses radial cable firstly and loop cable secondly.

 

 

Finite element model of the dome is built by MIDAS. Then Static, dynamic and stability simulations are carried out. The size of the structure components are designed on the basis of the simulation results.

 

Nearly 30 engineering drawings are drawn by AutoCAD.
